Engprax responds to misleading claims made by Jon Kern, Agile Manifesto co-author, in relation to research into the Agile methodology. In an article by Richard Speed, Kern criticised Engprax research and misrepresented Agile principles. Engprax was not given the chance to comment prior to publication but provides the following points to clarify the situation.

Today, a new book ‘How to Protect Yourself from Killer Computers’ has revealed a number of catastrophic computer failures, including a new unreported scandal and new details on the Horizon IT scandal. The book will also provide advice to the public on how they can protect themselves from ‘killer computers’ alongside explaining how such issues can be prevented.

Horizon IT Scandal: British Computer Society Role in Scandal Exposed
An ongoing public interest investigation by the software audit firm Engprax has revealed how the British Computer Society (BCS) had a role in the Horizon IT Scandal. Following an intervention by Engprax, the BCS says it has now “pledged to take any appropriate action under our Code of Conduct once these cases conclude and report”. However, Engprax has uncovered evidence indicating this promise is likely to be disingenuous.

75% of Software Engineers Faced Retaliation Last Time They Reported Wrongdoing
53% of software engineers have suspected wrongdoing at work with ~145,000 software engineers in the UK having experienced retaliation the last time they reported it to their employers. For those who didn’t report unethical behaviour, fear of retaliation from management was reported as the top reason (59%).
